This is an example of the format for an article using the ModelsCentral "Big Medium" content management system. The system makes it easy to write up content for additon to our web sites, without having to know how to program a web page. It'll give you an idea of what's possible with the system, while also instructing you on how to write your own articles. If you're one of our "Featured Models", we invite you to use this opportunity to interact with ModelsCentral visitors. You'll benefit from the additional exposure for your site and we benefit from the dynamic content you provide. E-mail us at webmaster@modelscentral.com and we'll send you your account user name and password.
This is a "pullquote". You can enter these in the "Supporting Content" part of the "New Article" page!
Once you've received your username and password you can click here to open our login page in a new browser window. Enter your information and enter the system. Select "ModelsCentral" as the site you wish to write for (we use the system for some of our other AlphaNexus sites, too). You should now see a page containing a list of the articles that you've previously written (if you've written any). On the left side of the page you'll see a "content" link. Click on "content" and you'll see links for "New Article" and "Article Editor". Click on "New Article" and you'll be taken to the page where you'll create new articles (and edit old ones if they haven't been published on the site yet).
Enter a title for your article in the "Article title/headline" box at the top of the page. Keep it short, no more than 6 to 8 words. In the "Article Content" box you can enter all of the text for your article. Unless you're particularly web-savvy, you'll probably just want to leave the "Local article" and "Plain text" options selected.
This is another pullquote! This time the size is "Big"!
Going further down the page, you should fill in the information in the "Article Info" box. You can leave the "Publication date" to today's date (we'll probably change it to match the actual date your article gets published on the site). The "Description Text" can be a short (no more than 12-15 words) description of the article. Something like "all the latest about my site!" would be fine. You can leave the "Keywords" box empty.
In the "Article Section(s)" box, you should select "Featured Models". If we think your article belongs elsewhere on the site, we'll change it.
Next is the "Supporting Content" section. Everything in this section is optional, but you'll probably want to fill in some of the information. Click on the "Author Info" button and you'll see boxes where you can enter your name and e-mail address. Your name will appear with your article and your e-mail address lets visitors send you mail. (They won't see your actual e-mail address - they'll be sent to a page where they can enter their message and send without seeing your address.)
The "Pullquotes" button opens up some boxes where you can specify some "pullquotes" that can will appear around your page text. There are examples of pullquotes used on this page. Click on the "?" symbol in the "Pullquotes" box for more information.
The "Related Links" button opens to let you add some links to web sites. These will appear at the bottom of your article's page. There are examples of these shown at the bottom of this page. You'll probably want to at least add a link to your own site.
In the "Images" section, you can ignore the "Spotlight Image" and "Thumbnail Image" buttons, we don't use those. Click on "Main Article Image" and you can specify an image (of up to 100x100 pixels and 20 kilobytes) that will appear near the top of your article (just like the gorilla photo on this page). If you leave this blank, we'll probably use your headshot from our featured models directory page. Click on the "Body Images" button and you can add photos (up to 20 kilobytes each) that will appear beside paragraphs in your article text. Click on the "?" for additional information about using body images. They can be an excellent way of making your article more interesting (and they can even be linked to your web site!). Don't add more than 3 "body images" to your page, we don't want to make pages too slow to load.
Please leave the items under "Article Preferences" unchanged.
Now you can click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page and the system will display the list of all of your articles. You can click on the article's name to open it and make changes. You can click on the "preview" link to get a general idea of how the article will appear.
If you're ready to have your article published on the site, send us an e-mail at webmaster@modelscentral.com and we'll review it and publish it ASAP.
If you have any problems or questions, feel free to e-mail us. Thanks for working with ModelsCentral.com!
